Jim Hamman was truly word class. We have bought over 15 new cars and can honestly way that this experience has been the very best. Jim had a deal worked out prior to our arrival and in no way did they try to alter from the price quoted. This was a great way to buy as I was able to spend over 6 hours contacting every Kia dealer from Tacoma, Washington clear down to Salem, Oregon and not a single one of them could give the same price Jim was able to give us. He honored the price when we got there to purchase and the time spend at the dealership was so limited. We were in and out before we knew it. I never thought I would ever drive a Kia, but I must admit that I love it. My husband and 8 year old daughter also love it as we no longer have to cram her into the back seat of a mustang. We will certainly be return customers.

Kia Racing Takes Second Victory At Road America, Tops Driver Standings

With their latest victory at Road America in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Kia moves to the top of the team and driver’s standings in the Street Tuner class. Not bad for a team that’s only two years old.

Drivers Michael Galati and Nic Jonsson won in the number 10 Kia Forte Koup at the Road America 200 in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. During the two and a half hour race, the two fended off multiple challengers and stayed in the top five for more than half the time, before moving onto first place and holding onto the lead for the last 30 minutes. The Kia ended the race in a spectacular yellow-flagging accident, but by then its victory had already been sealed.

“We went to Road America knowing the course’s long straights and elevation changes provided a significant challenge, especially against some of our turbocharged competitors, but the Kinetic Motorsports team did an amazing job preparing both Forte Koups,” said Michael Sprague, Kia’s vice president of marketing. “The team’s strategy allowed Nic and Michael to use the braking and cornering portions of the track to their advantage.”

The Road America 200 will be broadcast on SPEED Channel on Sunday, July 3rd at 1pm EST. The next race for Kia will be at Laguna Seca on July 9th.

    Kia signs Clippers' Blake Griffin to multiyear sponsorship deal

    Kia Motors America and Los Angeles Clippers all-star Blake Griffin are extending their relationship, which started with the NBA player dunking over a Kia Optima sedan earlier this year, as the company announced a multiyear deal that will make Griffin a global spokesman for the automaker.

    The company did not disclose the terms of the deal. But the partnership will involve Griffin appearing on advertising material, making appearances for the company and partaking in other brand events, according to a statement.

    The extension increases Kia's presence in advertising and sponsorships related to the NBA, whose audience Kia described as urban and multiculturally diverse, with educated and passionate fans.

    "We want to engage that passion, translate that passion, and we believe it has translated," said Tim Chaney, Kia's director of marketing communications.

    Griffin's relationship with the car brand began in February when the power forward came up with the idea to jump over a car at the NBA All-Star weekend's slam-dunk contest, which was held in Los Angeles this year.

    "Once I knew that Blake wanted to jump over a car, we thought that Kia was the only brand it really made sense for him to do it with since they were the NBA partner in terms of the slam-dunk contest," said Jaymee Messler, Griffin's spokeswoman.

    The dunk paid off for KIA, generating buzz in social media and in sports coverage as well as instantly affecting consumer activity online and at dealerships, Chaney said.

    "We saw an opportunity and had high hopes, but it greatly even exceeded our expectations," he said.

    Soon after, KIA produced a commercial based on the dunk.

    Griffin said he is excited to work with automobile company on an extended level.

    "Kia is a company that has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success, especially recently, and I am really excited to be working with them on a larger level," Griffin said in an email from his representatives.

    For Griffin, the reigning NBA rookie of the year, his partnership with Kia adds to a growing list of sponsorships, among them Nike Inc. and Subway.

    "Blake is just really interested in growing with partners that make sense," Messler said. "He's being strategic about the partnerships he's working with."

    As for the dunk commercial, Griffin said he thought it was pretty cool.

    "The first time I saw the commercial it dawned on me that this dunk was going to be remembered for a long time," he said.

    Kia Ties Up NBA Draft Presenting Sponsorship

    Kia is pulling out the stops for its role as presenting partner of the 2011 NBA Draft at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on June 23. Kia has been a sponsor of the draft before but this year's involvement is the first that puts the Kia name on the marquee.

    The Irvine, Calif. automaker, whose Optima is the "Official Vehicle of the NBA," will get product and brand placement around the arena and stage in Newark during the live coverage on ESPN, and on NBA TV and NBA.com. Kia's involvement includes presentation of two NBA Cares Community Caravan events in Newark and New York City before the Draft.

    Tim Chaney, director of marketing communications at Kia Motors America, says the new program vastly expands the automaker's presence at the draft. "The major difference is [that] in every instance the NBA promotes the Kia message. Before that, we carved out a sponsorship presence," he says. "We will be part of the message as well; we have an expanded presence in all the pieces of the event."

    Kia Motors has also been the presenting partner of the Kia NBA Performance Awards, title partner of Kia NBA Tip-Off, and Official Automotive Partner of NBA All-Star, and an Official Automotive Partner of NBA Cares.

    As part of its presence at the draft, Kia will have two vehicle displays outside the Prudential Center featuring co-branded signage and brand ambassadors, one of which will host an appearance by an NBA legend prior to the event. Kia will also present a "green screen" photo area on the arena concourse where fans will be able to take a "virtual" photo that will depict them as a draft pick on the official NBA Draft stage.

    Kia also gets advertising during the NBA Draft telecast and will have brand integration in programming touting and related to the NBA Draft on NBA TV and NBA.com, including the NBA Draft Preview Show, the NBA Draft Review Post-Show, and select behind-the-scenes segments telecast on NBA TV.

    Also on tap is a "Kia NBA Drive to the Draft" feature on NBA.com. The program includes a Kia presence on such things as NBA Draft Prospect Index and Profile Pages showcasing 160 draft prospects. Kia is also branding behind-the-scenes footage, draftee video journals, exclusive interviews with draftees, and blogs written by NBA.com editors.

    The focus is primarily Optima, but Kia will also show the Sorento crossover on site. "For several years now, we have had league sponsorship, [i.e.,] official partnership status on top of our sponsorship of 13 individual NBA teams. We have learned that league sponsorship and these team deals complement each other," he says. "We see value in team marketing on local level but it also complements national sponsorships. It is a great way to introduce products, since we have been in the middle of a design transformation. We have had as good a season as the NBA has."

    Chaney adds that NBA fans are receptive and positive to sponsors, "especially Kia. We have seen a great improvement in Kia consideration since we began NBA sponsorship. There are also the dynamics of the NBA fan: they are very urban, and diverse. [The league] is more popular in big markets and that's where a lot of our team sponsorships are."

Winner of a Silver Effie award in 2010, named “Automotive Ad of the Year” by Nielsen Automotive Advertising, at the core of a new clothing line and the reason behind of a special edition Kia Soul, the hamsters have done it again this year, snatching their second Effie, this time a gold one.

     

    The”This or That” campaign (the first one, the one that started all the madness, was titled "A New Way To Roll"), as Kia named its insane advertising stunt, was rewarded with a gold medal in the "David v. Goliath" category at the 2011 North American Effie Awards, as one of the best small brands that take on the giants of their respective line of business.

     

    If there was any more need to prove that smart advertising really works, then this is it: after the hamster campaign hit, Kia Soul sales went through the roof, the South Koreans selling more than 10,000 units in a single month.
