Broadway Kia - (5) Star Review on GoogleMaps

  • Paul Flash not your normal car salesman. I bought a soul couple days ago from Broadway kia, This was the 1st kia dealership that I stopped at, I was planning on going to at least 3 others before purchasing my soul! I was on the Broadwaykia.com and started a chat with Paul. I told him what I wanted and he said that it was hard to get because of the supply and demand! He told me if I gave him my # that he would locate the car for me so as to save me shopping time. 20 minutes later he called and said I found your car, and to come in and do the paper work. To make a long story short I did the paperwork that night, took less than 45 minutes. The next day I picked up my new car. It was full of gas and detailed perfectly. I was in and out in 15 minutes. I would recommend this dealership to anyone, just ask for Flash :) -Doug

  • I recently bought a Kia Soul from Paul . And I have to tell you It was a great experience. I was a first time buyer and was really apprehensive. I didn't think that I would qualify so I was just looking around! Paul told me that they had a first time buyer program that he was sure that I would qualify for... They even gave me the college grad rebate that I wasn't even aware of! Saved me an extra 750.... I love my new Soul and recommend Broadway kia to everyone Thanks Paul and Richard for your awesome customer service..... Cas

Kia Motors' "Kia Rio Windows Down" Playlist on Spotify Gains Momentum as Facebook Users Submit Their Favorite Songs

Kia-rio-and-spotify-create-best-songs-with-your-windows-down-playlist-01
In an automotive first, Kia Motors America (KMA) and music-loving Facebook users are creating a one-of-a-kind online playlist, titled "Kia Rio Windows Down," through Spotify, the award-winning digital music service that embraces sharing music and hearing tracks instantly by hitting play on any music post or posting tracks on Facebook and Twitter. Since the submission period began on the Kia Rio Facebook page in February, more than 1,100 songs have been submitted for inclusion on the playlist on Spotify, with song selections totaling 15 hours of music and an average of 24 minutes of time spent per user listening to the playlist, which provides an environment for users to listen, discover, and share the unique playlist with their friends. To create the perfect playlist for a joyride in the all-new Kia Rio subcompact, songs from Spotify's library of more than 15 million tracks can be submitted for the playlist until April 15, and will remain on the Spotify platform indefinitely.

"From our 'Share Some Soul' ad featuring LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem' to Mötley Crüe belting out 'Kickstart My Heart' in last month's Super Bowl commercial, music plays an important role in Kia's marketing efforts and being the first in the auto industry to partner with Spotify continues that trend," said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. "Spotify is an innovative music service, and aligning with a new platform that embraces the sharing of music was a natural fit for Kia to extend our Rio launch. Being the first to create a car-centric playlist on Spotify in the U.S. increases Kia's interaction with our target audiences that are passionate about music and social media."

Kia Motors Posts Largest Gains in Fuel Economy and CO2 Reduction Among All Automakers in the U.S. According to 2011 EPA Fuel Economy Trends Report

200px-kia_motors
In its commitment to produce sustainable and fuel-efficient vehicles, Kia Motors America (KMA) has "had the biggest improvement in adjusted CO2 and fuel economy performance from MY 2009 to MY 2010" of any automaker, according to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) latest fuel economy trends reporttitled, "Light-Duty Automotive Technology, Carbon Dioxide Emissions, and Fuel Economy Trends: 1975 Through 2011." Kia's fuel economy gain from 2009 to 2010 was 11.6 percent, while its reduction in CO2 emissions was 10.1 percent, beating all other major manufacturers by considerable margins based on the EPA's most recent data. In addition, the report shows Kia as tied for the highest Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) at 27.0 miles-per-gallon for MY 2010. Kia is ranked number two for MY 2010 CO2 values, ahead of traditional leaders such as Honda and Toyota.

"As an industry leader in fuel economy, Kia is committed to providing safe, high-quality vehicles that are socially relevant to consumers," said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. "Our goal is to stay ahead of the industry by applying innovative technologies such as direct-injection and turbo charged engines to advance our efforts and continue improving on the benchmarks Kia has set in the sustainability realm."

Kia Motors' EcoDynamics philosophy has created a global alternative fuel and powertrain research program to develop advanced fuel-stretching and emissions-cutting technologies. In 2011, Kia introduced the brand's first-ever hybrid vehicle in the U.S., and the 2013 Rio and Rio 5-door will be the first vehicles in the subcompact segment to offer fuel-saving Idle Stop and Go technology.

The EPA report summarizes key trends in CO2 emissions and fuel economy for gasoline- and diesel-fueled personal vehicles sold in the United States, beginning MY 1975. Overall, the automotive industry's fleetwide average real world MY 2010 CO2 emissions and fuel economy have marked slight improvements over MY 2009 and the most favorable levels since this analysis began in 1975.

Broadway Kia - (5) Star Review on GoogleMaps

  • My recent experience buying a used toyota was absolutely fantastic. I saw the car online (a model I had researched and knew it was what I wanted), called to inquire about it, and Jim Hamman returned my call very promptly. He checked to make sure the car was available and I told him I would be there in a half hour to take a look. Jim had the car waiting on the lot ready to go. I inspected it, asked some questions, and took it for a test drive. The internet special price was significantly lower than price other sellers were asking for older models of this car with 30000+ more miles. I told Jim my financing parameters, we wrote up the offer, and the entire deal was done in about 15 minutes. Jim never pressured, answered all my questions, and was a pleasure to work with. I arranged to pick the car up the next day. Jim had it completely cleaned, and obtained the service records I requested from work done at the dealership to prep the car for sale. My wife went with me to sign the papers and pick up the car. She called our daughter and said (based on experience with other car dealers) that we would be home in a couple of hours. I had contacted Jim earlier in the day and requested that he have all the paperwork ready to go. When we arrived, Jim had done the work and we immediately walked into meet with the finance officer. That entire process took about 15 minutes (no pressure and we really enjoyed talking with her) and we were out the door with the car in about 20 minutes. My wife said it was the easiest car transaction we ever made and I agree. I strongly suggest working with Jim as our experience was the best. Thanks Jim and you have earned any future business we have! -Will

Cars.com Family Reviews the 2012 Kia Soul

To many, the Kia Soul is known as the “hamster car,” but Cars.com Family contributor Carrie Kim says it’s so much more than that. It’s really a fantastic family car disguised in a compact car’s body. Its squared-off shape makes it easy to load kids into the backseat and their gear into the cargo area.

Broadway Kia - (5) Star Review on GoogleMaps

  • Purchased a 2012 Kia Sorento SX with Jim Hamman in February with a trade-in. Jim is very personable and knowledgeable. He also did an amazing job in entertaining our two young kids. Overall, we are very pleased, and the service is excellent. I withheld one star due to the extended discussion to finalize pricing on the new vehicle and the trade-in, after already obtaining internet quotes from Broadway Kia and other sources. As with any major purchase, you must come fully prepared. Otherwise, you may leave money on the table. Too bad Cain (3/6/12) felt taken. Regardless, I would still highly recommend Jim and Broadway Kia. -Sorento

Broadway Kia - (4) Star Review on Yelp

  • I was in the market to buy a car but not necessarily a brand new one. I looked at two other dealerships but wasn't certain on what car I wanted but I knew in the back of my mind that Kia had the best warranty. I do not like people that are persistent and at first one of the salesmen was like that. I did not like that and knew my experience wasn't going to be that great. It seemed at that point that my daughter was getting all the excitement and I knew that she was happy and content but I didn't want to be pressured and car salesman are known for that. That all changed when Tom Tyson assisted in the process. He was very nice and not persistent from the beginning. I told him I was unsure of what I wanted and that I wanted to check around at a Ford dealership as Fords were all I have ever owned. He gave his opinions on vehicles, was very knowledgeable about the Kia Rio and seemed to go the extra mile to help someone who knew nothing about Kia vehicles, nonetheless, a brand spankin' new vehicle. He helped entertain my toddler who after 3 hours was still a charmer to the staff (and me, of course.) Tom gave his real life experiences with his cars, his family, and anything else that came up. Needless to say my first time experience dealing with car salesmen and buying a brand new car was painless and I owe it all to Tom. Good work Tom...Now, how about that raise I told your boss you needed??!!   :) -Stacey

First Drive: 2012 Kia Optima Limited

2012-kia-optima-limited-front-motion-623x389
The Kia brand's bold design language, under styling chief -- and Automobile Magazine Man of the Year -- Peter Schreyer, is perhaps most impressive on the Optima mid-size sedan, which was unveiled at the 2010 New York auto show. Consumers took note, snapping up 84,590 Optimas in 2011, nearly doubling the nameplate's previous best year. (That number, however, still puts the model far behind class leaders such as the Toyota Camry, the Nissan Altima, and the Honda Accord, all of which sold more than 250,000 copies last year.) Kia officials expect to move even more Optimas in 2012, as production at the company's two-year-old factory in West Point, Georgia, ramps up fully.

The Optima is currently the largest and most expensive sedan in Kia's U.S. lineup. That will remain the case for at least the next several months, as Kia won't yet confirm whether the larger Cadenza (a.k.a. the K7) will be sold here. Expect an announcement on this front sometime this summer, when we will likely also learn if we'll get the rear-wheel-drive Kia K9, which is just making its debut at the Geneva show.

In the meantime, Kia has added the top-of-the-line Limited to the Optima lineup. The "Drive the Dream" Super Bowl commercial with Adriana Lima, Moetley Cruee, and Chuck Liddell actually marked the debut of the Limited, although you might have missed that nuance while watching the overstimulating ninety-second ad.

The Limited itself is a bit of a nuance, too, since it's not a trim level but merely a $3300 option package for the top-of-the-line SX models equipped with the $4350 "SX Technology & Premium Package." Making your Optima a Limited adds only cosmetic touches: softer leather upholstery, LED daytime running lights, chrome wheels, red-painted front brake calipers, chrome-accented side sills and a similarly finished rear spoiler, subtle wood interior trim, nicer material for the headliner, and, yes, a first-aid kit. Also, a blue "L" badge is installed next to the "SX" lettering on the trunk lid, so you could actually call it the Optima SXL.

The $34,900 Limited is as fancy as you can build an Optima; the required technology/premium package means that it also includes navigation, a cool panoramic sunroof, an upgraded stereo, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seat cushions. Kia's head product planner, Ralph Tjoa, says that the Limited is designed to appeal to buyers who previously owned luxury cars such as the Lexus ES, the Nissan Maxima, the Toyota Avalon, and the Volkswagen CC. "These buyers expect more," Tjoa says, pointing out that they're able to pay for more, as 27 percent of Optima buyers have an annual household income of more than $100,000.

A base Optima -- still a very nice car -- starts at $21,750. About half of Optima buyers so far have sprung for the upper EX, EX Turbo, or SX trim levels, so Kia figures that about ten percent will opt for the Optima Limited.

Those customers should be quite happy with their purchase, as the feature-filled car drives exactly like any other turbocharged Optima. It rides smoothly (more smoothly, in fact, than pretty much every other Korean car on the market), it handles better than most mid-size-car buyers will ever require, it steers pretty well, and it accelerates quickly and unobtrusively. We drove the Optima mostly on Florida interstates, and we considered driving it all the way north to Michigan rather than catch our flight early the next morning. Snowbirds who often make the I-75 trek would adore this car, as would style-conscious people who seek moderate driving satisfaction.

Our only complaints about the Limited trim level are that the chrome wheels and the red brake calipers look decidedly aftermarket (and not in a good way) and that the tack-on rear spoiler looks like it was pulled off another car.

Optimas with the Limited package will reach dealers in the next few weeks bearing, as previously noted, an MSRP of $34,900. In other Optima sales news, the hybrid model, which went on sale last summer on the coasts, will be rolled out in the rest of the country by early May, but won't get the Limited package.

Kia to Focus on CNG Future

Kia_main
If Kia's chief powertrain engineer gets his way, the Korean automaker will continue its push to reduce harmful carbon emissions by building its future models (like the Rio-based Trackster, above) to run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

Dr. Joachim Hahn, speaking to the automotive press at the Geneva auto show last week, voiced his strong support for CNG as a means to a quick, inexpensive way for automakers to cut emissions, saying "With all the work we do on internal combustion engines and hydrogen-powered cars, making big gains in CO2 reduction is either incredibly difficult or incredible expensive. That's why I see big potential in CNG. It can offer a 20 per cent CO2 reduction just like that what other technology can give you that?"

Indeed, Hahn's comments mirror the "shotgun" philosophy that Kia's parent company, Hyundai, seems to be following, with its R&D team pushing out everything from "conventional" gas-electric hybrid Elantra sedans to hydrogen fuel-cell electrics and dual-fuel compacts in Europe capable of seamlessly switching between gasoline and Propane. All of which are "future-proofed", of course, by Hyundai's forward-thinking Assurance program, which guarantees a new car buyer's resale value in the face of a wildly uncertain future of fuel ...

... wildly uncertain, that is, for most of us. Dr. Hahn seems pretty sure he's bet on the right horse with CNG. "It's also cheaper for the consumer than petrol and easier to store than either electricity or hydrogen. What's more, a wider spread of use of CNG would take some emphasis off oil, and open up more opportunities for worldwide suppliers there would be no reliance on certain countries for supply."

Here's hoping, then, Hyundai/Kia let their guy run with it if for no other reason than to show Honda that everything they can do, Hyundai can do.

Renowned TV Show Builders West Coast Customs Continues Building Extreme Rides on Inside West Coast Customs

30696
West Coast Customs (WCC) continues season two of their show on Velocity, Inside West Coast Customs, March 4, 2012 at 9:00 PM EST for another thrilling episode. Inside West Coast Customs is the next exciting show featuring WCC's outrageous builds. This week, the WCC crew works double time to complete the Double Play for Blake Griffin and Michelle Wie.

"The months leading up to SEMA are our busiest time of the year, and when Kia first approached us, we thought we could squeeze in a build with no problems before SEMA," said Ryan Friedlinghaus, founder and CEO of West Coast Customs. "Then they mentioned it would be two different cars for two very different athletes, and we knew we had to double time to get them ready for the unveiling at SEMA."

Celebrity clients have become fairly common within the hallowed halls of the World Famous West Coast Customs. But it's not very often they get two at once. Enter, golf prodigy, Michelle Wie, and basketball superstar, Blake Griffin. Kia and WCC are working together to create a pair of sports-themed rides for these two pro athletes -- complete with pop-up gaming stations in their respective trunks -- and jaw-dropping custom touches throughout.

Michelle will be riding in style in her new Kia Soul with custom painted graphics to match her signature golf bag. Add to that, new wheels, an aggressive body kit and the flat-screen TV and X-Box console in the rear hatch, and this thing will definitely be the talk of the Masters. The interior will be outfitted with putting green style astro-turf in place of the carpet, and custom leather seats to match the exterior paint.

Blake's slick new Optima will feature the thin-slat hard wood floors of a basketball court, custom orange paint to give the entire exterior the feel of a ball on its way to the hoop and matching leather throughout the interior. But the WCC team won't stop there. They'll hook Blake up with new wheels and tires, a custom West Coast stereo system, and all the WCC styling that's made the shop second to none.

So, get ready for the double play of a lifetime. This is West Coast Customs and Kia, hitting the court at a full sprint, ready to create a pair of Hall-of-Fame worthy rides.

Owner Ryan Friedlinghaus and his shop have been doing exclusive custom builds for the MTV show Pimp my Ride, TLC's Street Customs, Street Customs Berlin, and now on his new show on Velocity, Inside West Coast Customs. Ryan and his crew are world-renowned for their extreme vehicles, outrageous features and unique designs.

Check out Inside West Coast Customs, Sundays at 9:00 pm EST on Velocity.

2012 Kia Sorento Named to "10 Best Family Cars of 2012" List by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com

2011-kia-sorento-sx-harbor-630
The award-winning Kia Sorento is again in the limelight, this time being named to Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com coveted "10 Best Family Cars of 2012" list. The ultra-popular CUV enjoys this accolade for a second year in a row. Lauded for its outstanding drivability, functionality, refinement and comfort, the Sorento has defined a number of milestones for Kia, including becoming the first model in the product line to surpass 100,000 sales in a single year as well as being Kia's first U.S.-built vehicle at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) in West Point, Ga.

"Sorento's achievement of being recognized as one of the '10 Best Family Cars of 2012' by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com is a testament to its exceptional safety, comfort and feature content," said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, Kia Motors America. "As Kia's best-selling vehicle, Sorento's low cost of ownership has resulted in strong consumer ratings, making it a favorite among family buyers."

Editors from Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com evaluated vehicles based on several main criteria important to family car buyers, including safety, child-friendliness, comfort, economy of operation – which factors fuel consumption, insurance premiums and repair costs – and resale value. The kbb.com editors selected the vehicles that offer the best combination of these characteristics and the highest overall value for everyday families.

Kbb.com editors underscored the Sorento's available three row seating capacity and highway fuel economy of 32 miles-per-gallon. "Good fuel economy is only part of the story," said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. "The Sorento starts under $24,000 and offers a voice-controlled infotainment system plus a great big panoramic moonroof."
